Résumé : |
This study was conducted to investigate the phytochemical profile and evaluate the antioxidant and antiinflammatory activities of roots and aerial parts aqueous and methanolic extracts of four different plants ephedra alata, bryonia dioica, aristolochia longa and ecballium elaterium. Phytochemical profiling was performed using standard methods, antioxidant activity was evaluated using dpph rsa, reducing power and tac. hrbc assay, egg albumin and bsa protein denaturation assays were performed to determine the anti-inflammatory activity. results showed that cardiac glycosides were present in all four plants whereas resin was totally absent and other phytochemicals differentiated from extract to extract. additionally, all extracts exhibited biological activities, some more than the others. b. dioica's fruits methanolic extract had the highest total phenolic and condensed tannins content (11.24+0.34 mg GAE/g and 78.48+0.29 mg ce/g respectively). however, e. alata's aerial parts aqueous extract contained the highest flavonoïde content (248.04 +1.471 mg qe/g). regarding the antioxidant activity, a. longa's aqueous aerial part extract had the lowest IC so (2.90+ 0.035 mg/ml) therefore, the highest DPPH radical scavenging activity and the highest tac (8 mg aae/ml). however, the roots aqueous extract of a. longa presented the best reducing power (5.0132 0.0025 mg AAE/ml). as for the anti-inflammatory activity, e. alata's methanolic extract exhibited the highest hrbc membrane stabilization (34.72+0.083%). Whereas, e. elaterium's aerial parts methanolic extract had the highest bsa protein denaturation inhibition (99.49+0.366%) and b. dioica's fruit methanolic extract presented the highest egg albumin denaturation inhibition (76.3+1.68%). Interestingly, b. dioica's fruit methanolit Therefore, we have fractionated it using solvents of varying polarities and investigated it. For the antioxidant activity, the n-Butanol fraction had the highest rsa of all the extracts and fractions (IC50-0.0610.02 mg/ml), the ethyl acetate fraction exhibited the highest tac (11.03.20.23mg aae/ml) and the highest reducing power (9.4240.03 mg aae/ml). as for the anti-inflammatory activity, nbutanol fraction had the highest stabilization effect on hrbc membrane (91.470.21%) while the highest bsa denaturation was presented by methylene chloride fraction (98.01+0.31%) and the hexane fraction topped the egg albumin denaturation inhibition (98.64+0.06%). our results indicate that the studied plants and fractions could be a valuable source of bioactive antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds in the medicinal and pharmacological fields both traditional and modern. |
